Founded in 1956, Corpus Christi businessman, Reynaldo Garcia opened his family business, Garcia Banana Company.  Mr. Garcia knew that fresh bananas were essential to the grocery stores of South Texas and he wanted to provide face to face personal customer service. Keeping the business within the family was very important to Reynaldo and eventually his youngest son, Danny joined the business.  

Working alongside his father made a huge impact on Danny as he was able to see his father provide excellent customer service. “My father treated our customers with respect and his charisma was always appealing to them. He always managed to tell them a joke or two which made our customers enjoy his personal touch.” Helping his father, Danny became very interested and passionate- helping with deliveries, calling customers for orders, and helping manage the business.

After a successful operation of his business, Reynaldo decided it was time to retire and Danny took over the business. Danny knew he would have large shoes to fill but his father gave him the tools in running a successful business and he wanted to succeed as his father had. Just like his father, Danny is passionate in providing face to face customer service by personally visiting his customers from time to time. Danny takes pride in his relationship with each client and strives to provide the best, most fresh produce- and just like Reynaldo, Danny manages to tell a few jokes of his own!

Over time, Danny has changed the business format to a more modern business, including selling a full line of fruits and vegetables. Because the company is mainly a wholesale company, Danny is able to give the public better prices than the large grocery store chains and he will guarantee that you get only the freshest produce. Another change he added was home deliveries. Anyone can visit his website and place their order and their produce will be delivered directly to their doorstep.   

D. Garcia Banana Company serves a variety of businesses in the surrounding areas including convenient stores, grocery stores, schools, hotels, bars, and restaurants. Over the past 25 years, D. Garcia Banana Company has donated produce to various organizations, including Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC), Special Olympics, Bayfest, Beach to Bay, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Junior League, Ronald McDonald House, and various school functions throughout the city of Corpus Christi.
